Moving out of your parent's home at the age of 18 means you have to learn how to be a "big kid" sooner than you would if you would stay a few more years at home. This is one of the many challenges I have been faced with since moving to New York. Being that I'm only 18 and fresh out of high school, moving so far from home has definitely made me grow up much quicker. From such a big move, I have learned a lot of lessons dealing with different aspects of the "adult world." However I'm just going to share a one of those lessons with you tonight, having an "adult job."
When you're a teenager you may have an after school job at the local store, or you may babysit for a few extra dollars in your pocket, but when you become a "big kid" you have to get a "big kid" job. When I was still in high school I was one of those kids working a part-time after school job, but now that I'm out on my own I've had to get a "real" job. Since being in New York I've worked at 2 different jobs, both presenting their own set of issues. Through this experience I've learned that when you grow up you may have to work 6 days out of the week for over 40 hours just to pay your day-to-day bills, you may have to pull double shifts when you didn't get home until 1:00 AM the night before, and you may have to squeeze in your college papers at the last minute so that you can get enough hours at work to pay rent. All of that may sound like a challenge, and it is, but believe it or not it can be done with a LOT of determination. I'll admit that going to school full-time and working full-time isn't a walk in the park, but I’ve gained something from it. I’ve gained more appreciation of the adults in my life that worked full-time to support me while growing up, and I’ve gained more appreciation for all of the days of “fun” and rest that I do get. With that being said, I'm going to say good night because I have to get up in the morning for another day of being a "big kid."

Before ever even thinking about starting a blog I was always writing journal entries, or short stories. As a child I was always writing some type of story in my notebooks or on the family PC, which ultimately inspired me to start my own blog. However the idea of a blog didn't hit me until my senior year of high school, and I never committed to doing it until now. My love for writing didn't just happen one day because of school or because of watching others doing it, it simply came from my imagination blossoming from the books I was reading throughout the years causing me to need to let my imagination flow freely. That form of letting my imagination flow just so happened to be writing.
If you will notice I chose to title this post Freelance and Authenticity, so why did I choose this particular title? Well it's simple, I chose to title this post this because I'm not writing this blog about something specific, and I'm not following some script. I am just freelance writing this blog taking it post-by-post, and making it truly authentic specifically to me since my story is unique in its own way. From my writings you are going to be able to discover more about me since I've discovered who I am, you will learn about my fitness journey, and you will just have an insight into my life that you normally don't get from other blogs; not to say my blog is special or better than anyone else's because after all I am a "newbie" and have read some amazing blogs. Now that you know what you are in store for with me just doing this as a freelance writing, let me share a secret with you. So with all the writing that I have been doing since I was younger, I at one point, came up with the dream that I would write for the New York Times or some big magazine company in New York one day. As far fetched as that seems I'm actually not too far off. I am currently going to school for my Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations with an emphasis in Advertising Design, meaning that when I'm done with school I may have the opportunity to work with one of these big companies in the industry. Overall what I'm trying to do is share a huge secret with you to keep things real, but I also want you to realize that no matter how far fetched an idea or dream may sound to you (and others) you should just go for it and chase your passions. With that being said I have added a photo to this blog post to show you some of the authenticity of not only me, but also of the person who shot this amazing photo. I'd like to personally welcome you to my new and improved blog with loads of surprises in store for my viewers.
